Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund Program


Purpose:

The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) Amendment of 1996 authorizes the Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund (DWSRF) Program to assist public water systems in financing the cost of infrastructure needed to achieve and maintain compliance with SDWA requirements, to protect public health and to assist systems most in need on a per household basis. Arkansas Act 772 of 1997 created the Arkansas Safe Drinking Water Fund Program. Note: All projects must be on the DWSRF project priority list.

Compliance Public Health
Water Supply Treatment
Distribution Storage Plan and Design
Consolidation Restructuring
Eligible Entities: (public/*private entities)
 
 
Cities Towns
Counties Public Facilities boards
Improvement Districts Regional Water Distribution Districts
Community Water Systems Regional Development Authorities*
*Note: Projects funded may be restricted due to the requirements to meet Public Use Tests prescribed by the Tax Exempt Bonds issued and current state laws.

Types of Assistance:

Low interest Loans
up to 20 years or life of project, whichever is less
up to 30 years or life of project for disadvantaged community, whichever is less

Loans are limited to the life of the project
