Floodplain Administrator Accreditation Workshop @ Jackson County
Arkansas State University at Newport

The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, Floodplain Management Program, provides 12 training workshops across the state each year to help communities and their Floodplain Administrators obtain required training.  All Arkansas communities participating in the National Flood Insurance Program [NFIP] must have  at least one floodplain administrator on staff attend this training. It is suggested that a second staff person also attend, however, it is not required.  These workshops are intended for both experienced and new floodplain administrators.  The workshops give local floodplain administrators an opportunity to ask questions and be updated on important activities and changes in floodplain management, the NFIP, new flood maps, and other issues.

Managing Floodplain Development Through The National Flood Insurance Program
Arkansas Natural Resources Commission

The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC), with the assistance of the Arkansas Floodplain Management Association (AFMA) and the support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will sponsor Managing Floodplain Development through the National Flood Insurance Program, a four (4) day course on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and floodplain management.  The course will be held at the ANRC Offices, March 11-14, 2019. This course provides local communities with the knowledge and skills to help manage development within flood-prone areas.

Arkansas Floodplain Management Association (AFMA) Spring Workshop
El Dorado, Arkansas

AFMA sponsors a number of events throughout the year that are designed to support local efforts in successfully managing the floodplain. These gatherings offer a wealth of knowledge and experience from other floodplain managers throughout Arkansas.  This schedule of events is highlighted by the AFMA annual fall conference, a unique opportunity for the entire Arkansas floodplain management community to gather as one organization dedicated to mitigating hazards everywhere.

This two-day event provides a comprehensive review of sound floodplain management best practices, complete with expert presentations from federal agencies, other state floodplain management associations, and peers among the AFMA membership.
